On May 6, 2015 a Notice of Final Determination was issued by HUD and USDA that will impact the minimum energy standards for new construction of certain housing insured, guaranteed or assisted by the two agencies. The Notice, while incremental, is an important part of HUD’s efforts to improve the efficiency of our single family and multifamily portfolios, and helps fulfill the President’s Climate Action Plan goal of cutting energy waste in the residential sector.
