Membership Criteria. A background check of public records will be run on individuals, and a check of public civil records will be run on companies. These will be conducted by a professional screening company. Any business that is, or has been, involved with illegal or perceived unethical activity will not be accepted as members; The applicant must be in good standing with the state in which they were formed; Applicants who conduct illegal activities and/or unlawful practices will not be accepted as members; Applicants, individuals affiliated with applicants, and/or principals of applicants who have been decertified from any government agency in California, Arizona or Nevada and those who are not in good standing with government agencies that AHMA-PSW does business with will not be accepted as members; The activity of applicant should serve the affordable housing industry; The activity of applicant should be for the betterment of the affordable housing industry and be a good representation of AHMA-PSW and its members; Applicant may appeal denial within 14 days of receiving notice; The AHMA-PSW Board of Directors has sole and absolute discretion to accept or reject any application.
Eligibility for Membership. Any real property management company and/or any ownership entity or individual owner of an affordable housing development, at the time that application for membership is make, and dedicated to the purposes of this Association, shall be eligible for Regular Membership provided that (1) it is qualified to receive departmental clearance to manage affordable housing from the Department of Housing and Urban Development or any other federal, state or local governmental entity involved in the certification and /or clearance of management agents for projects under its jurisdiction; (2) its business practices do not violate the standard within the community, legal status and/or any code of business ethics adopted by the Association; and/or (3) there are no other reasons found by the Board of Directors as sufficient to render a company unfit for membership. Associate Membership may be conferred by the Board of Directors under such terms and conditions as the Board of Directors may direct upon individuals, firms and related organizations interested in the purposes and objectives of the Affordable Housing Management Association provided that (1) their business practices do not violate the standard within the community, legal statute and/or any code of business ethics adopted by the Association; and/or (2) there are no other reasons found by the Board of Directors as sufficient to render a company unfit for membership.
