AHMA-PSW’s Affordable Housing News 07/11/19

  • AHMA-PSW Advocate, Ron Kingston reports that CA AB-1188 has been amended based on PSW and other group advocacy. This bill would have required property owners/agents to allow a person at risk of homelessness to move in with an existing household without approval.  The current bill would require landlord approval for such an addition.
  • AHMA-PSW Advocate, Ron Kingston reports that CA AB 1482 which would implement statewide rent control is moving forward with major amendments. Thanks to PSW advocacy, the current version of the bill would exempt affordable properties from the rent control provisions. A new amendment deals with just cause evictions, however many of us already operate with a lease that requires we only terminate for cause. More to come on this.
