Signage required to meet the “safe harbor” requirements under CA Proposition 65, which define the type of signs that meet the requirement to warn about certain types of chemicals, have changed effective August 30, 2018. After that date, the previously acceptable signs will no longer be sufficient to the presumed proper warning. The new “safe harbor” defines additional places and entrances that will require signage and adds requirements for certain businesses. While signage at primary entrances may have been sufficient before, additional signs will not be required for many properties and where signs are required, those signs must contain far more information than before.
